I currently serve as an Associate Professor of Strategy and Digital Innovation at the University of Southampton and as a Senior Researcher at the Department of Management and Organization at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (NL). I specialise in topics related to Digital Transformation and Digital Innovation and the philosophy of technology, particularly the ethics of technology and the political dimensions of technology. My research has been published in journals like Long Range Planning, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Technological Forecasting & Social Change and more.
Simultaneously, striving for student inclusion, gender equality, engagement and higher motivation, I serve at the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Committee at the University of Southampton and have served as a researcher at the Center for Study & Career Success (RSM, Erasmus University) actively participating in research and development of the Goal Setting Intervention which has benefitted thousands of students since its inception. Moreover, I research effective design and how educational technologies such as Serious Games and Virtual Worlds can be incorporated into higher education contexts.
I hold a B.A. in International & European Economic and Political Studies and an M.Sc. in International Economics (UoM, Greece), as well as an M.Sc. in Information Systems and Management (Warwick Business School, UK). I was awarded my PhD in Strategy from the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (NL) in 2016 as a Marie Curie fellow for the ITN project MANETEI (Management of Emerging Technologies for Socio-Economic Impact).
I have been involved in multiple EU research consortia involving leading academic, industry and government organisations interested in the implications of digitalisation and how to strategise and organise around digital innovation. My research has been focusing on technologies such as Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing and Secure Multiparty Computation.
